How was your week? Who came to church? Jared came to church this week with his daughter Erica :} so cute. We taught him the Word of Wisdom this week (cuz he smokes like a lumber-jack) and he said that he would try but it might take him a while haha
This week has actually been a very hard week for sister Duersch and I. we went on a spiritual purge (means the missionaries don't contact the investigators, the investigators have to contact them if they are interested in progressing) with Fashionette and Kyla this week and got a text from Kyla saying that she still wanted to be baptized this weekend. So we went over and taught her and got the baptismal program all set. We had a baptismal interview set up for her on Friday at 4 pm and we texted her and made sure she was coming and she said she would be there. So 4 o’clock rolls around and she didn't show up. So sister Duersch called her phone as well as Roberts phone, Robert answers and says that she isn't home, but we could hear her kids in the background. So we drove over to see if she was home and her car was there and the boys were there, but she was not. Robert then got all mad at us cuz we didn’t believe him and told us to go away. So sis duersch and I went back to the church to talk with elder Morris and elder Burnham about what to do, we then get a text from a member who was trying to get a hold of Kyla saying that Robert said that kyla was out of town for a funeral of a family member so she would not be getting baptized this weekend. Then later calls us and says that kyla told him to tell us that she doesn't like being pressured into being baptized so she wants to wait a while. So we won’t be teaching her until she calls us, which might not even happen. We have been through “H.E. double hockey” sticks this weekend. Thought I would share what missionary work also includes. I never really knew how much emotion you invest in your investigator and how hard it hurts when they push the Gospel of Jesus Christ away, especially when you know they know how happy they can be with the knowledge. It is really hard. But on a happier note, Fashionette texted us and wants us to come back and teach her and answer her questions again, so that is good.
are either of you being transferred? I am staying but sis Duersch is getting transferred way up north to Woodward. My new comp will be Sister Garner
How do you use D&C 4 in your life? I try to make sure that I am doing the best I can to harvest those who have been prepared by the Lord so that I can help in hastening the work.
In what way did you feel the spirit the strongest? At church this week, we are learning about the basics now in Gospel Principles and we learned about our Father in Heaven and how we are his literal spirit sons and daughters. He wants the best for us and wants to help us so bad, but He wants us to learn so we must struggle a little bit, but when it gets too hard for us to handle or we have given all we have, we can ask Him to intervene and He will help us along. I am so glad for that knowledge and for the Spirit testifying to me of that Truth.
There is a scripture that I found during studies this week, it is 2 Nephi 25:23 and it reads“ For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, andalso our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know thatit is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.” I love the last part the most, after all we can do. That has really stuck out to me, especially this week with the trials that sister Duersch and I are in right now, I know that after I have given my all, the Lord will help me and will pick me up and carry me across the finish line.
Do you go to just one ward? or to more? what time does it meet? are you comps with an elder yet on Sundays or still with sis D?I am now comps with sister law from 8 am to 12:15ish and then I will be companions with Sister Garner after that. I will be going on post now :} so it’s a little different now :}
