2/23/15 goodbye Lawton, Hello Noble and lots of pics

So tell, tell, tell, about your new area:
New comp:  Name, where from, how long out...if from Utah which high school? Her name is sister  Holloway. She is from Chicago :}
you mentioned it's a car area so is it big? It is HUGE! I haven’t seen most of it :p
 or is it car because of your new assignment and you need to travel more for exchanges? (lead, guide, walk beside) that is one of the reasons as well. We have to go down to Ada and Seminole which are about 50 miles one way… and I don’t really want to bike that haha
are you in a house or apartment? An apartment, but it is pretty big :}
what's the ward like?  They all have really crazy names like Lablanc, Bitseedee, Almunzinos, and so many more that I can’t spell haha
Is it crazy Sundays like Lawton or regular church times like OKC? It is regular church so it is different haha I have to get used to a normal ward now :}
Do you teach at your meetings now? I will be, but I haven’t yet, I think we are teaching at a meeting on the 9th of March and on the 12th of March as well :}
What are your new responsibilities as STL? I just have to make sure all of the sisters in our area are doing ok. When they are not, we will either go over and talk with them, see what the problem is, or we will do an exchange with them to help them get more ideas for missionary work :} it will be different from this side of the exchange instead of being the troubled missionary hahah :}
So what did you learn about your self this week? That the Lord trusts me more than I trust myself, so I have been reading a lot about Individual worth and stuff like that and just really focusing on how much my Father in Heaven loves me :}
How did they Lord direct you? We had a struggling sister about 4 days ago and we were able to help her just by listening. (guess listening to awesome stories pays off ;} haha)
How many sisters are in your area? We have 6 companionships of sisters in our “dominion” as everyone calls them haha
Do you have specific responsibilities on p-day now that were different from before because of your new calling? Nope :} it’s a normal P-day ;} but it is snowing today :{ so sad
Do you do the driving? we swap every other day. So today is my day :} haha
do you do splits as part of your STL?  if yes, how often? We call them exchanges, but yes we do them :} and we do them 6 times a transfer :} once with each companionship haha. Plus some more depending on struggling missionaries.
What is your new place like?  home or apartment?  washer & dryer? It is an apartment with a dishwasher this time but no washer or dryer… so we go to a members house and do our laundry there :} Just like OKC
What is the City of Noble like?  It is pretty small, but very spread out. Our members go WAY out there in the boonies of Noble haha
Have you met some fabulous people?  I have indeed. We have an investigator who is SOLID!! He just is waiting to move out of his apartment (where he lives with his girlfriend) so he can get baptized! And there are some really cool recent converts here as well :}
do you have an accent yet? The only thing that I say in an “Okie” style is y’all… but that’s pretty much it haha
any requests for you birthday? (now is the time:  clothes, treats, things you need, things you  want, etc) I would love some pics of you guys ;} that would be nice haha
have fun today at the Basketball Tournament! cheer really loud for me ;}

1&2. me with the Heverlings ;} we are teaching William on the far right
3. me with the Malcoms  (they spoiled Meagan with dinners and friendship)

1. sis Garner and I holding a chicken and a bunny :]
2. us and the Heverling Kids (we are teaching the oldest boy in the middle)
3. Sis Garner in the Cold of Oklahoma
4... I couldn't resist :} me holding a bunny hehe

Hello family!
1. What has been your biggest challenge this week? Riding in the winds and the rain/ice of Oklahoma. And finding out that I am leaving Lawton.
2. What has been your biggest concern? my biggest concern this week would have to be me getting transferred… which I am. I am going toNoble, Oklahoma to be a Sister Training Leader there. Wish me luck :}
3. What has been your biggest success? Finally getting in with a Potential investigator (Dakota) after trying like 5 times :} she is so awesome!! We also got a new Baptismal Date, with Edna (mode) Newberry this week for the 28th of March :} so fun!!
4. Who has been your favorite person this week? Why?Sister Garner :} she is my favorite every week. She just has this positive spirit that she shares with every one and it always makes you so happy :} I am gonna miss her so much!
5. What has been your most significant tender mercy? The Weather. The Lord has been blessing us with some pretty good weather these past few weeks. I am actually really grateful for biking as well. Now that I am going to an area with a car, I won’t be biking as often and will miss some of the opportunities to grow.
6. Which scripture has had the biggest impact on you this week? D&C 121:7-8. (My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment;  And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes. and the next verse too...9 thy friends do stand by thee, and they shall hail thee again with warm hearts and friendly hands.)
7. When did you feel the most loved? Yesterday at Post. So about 3/4th of our branch graduates from basic training this week so they won’t be in our branch any more which is sad cuz they are all my friends :{ but yesterday I had the chance to teach the Plan of Salvation and Doctrine of Christ lesson and I had 2 investigators and a Recent Convert in my lesson :} it was so good! Any who, so as every one was leaving the Recent Convert, Brother Perry, came over and was like, “Sister Boulter, I’m gonna miss you” and he walked straight up to me and gave me a hug… which is not good but can’t stop it :/ anyway I just felt so loved cuz I had known him for like 6 weeks but I made a difference in his life. Then it just made me realize how much of a difference I can make out here on the mission :}
Love you, Sis. Meagan

PS: and in case anyone was wondering what makes up an "Elder Perfect"... this is what was written on the shirt:

a Rock like Peter
a Bad Boy like Samson
a Voice sooooo good like Solomon's
as Faithful as Nephi
a Striking Countenance like Ammon
the Bravest Stripling Warrior
as Thoughtful and Sweet as Richard G. Scott
as Spiritual as Enoch
Arms Open to Embrace like Christ
Inspired like Joseph Smith
as Strong as Captain Moroni
as Glorious as Father Adam
Eyes that Pierce the Heart like Teancum
Fearless like Daniel

2/09/2015

So how have you been? I have been pretty good actually. This week has been a lot less dramatic and stressful as the other weeks so that is good :}
What was your most amazing experience this week? I got to teach an actual Restoration lesson on post to 25 people… it was crazy fun! um about 20 investigators and 5 members in my lesson. it was really hard cuz i couldn't personalize what i was teaching to each individual need but it was still loads of fun! they had a lot of questions about Joseph smith ;} but i was able to answer their questions
Who are you currently teaching? We are teaching Alexus Ridge(17) and  her mom Jessica(38), Edna Newberry(52), William Heverling(9), Dakota (23), and Tara (47)
Have you visited any other churches lately?  that like to speak in tongues? Haha just that one so far :} but maybe we will get an opportunity to go another time :}
where do you do most of your shopping?  wally world or a more local store?  I sometimes have seen pic of you  eating at Sam's, is there one in Lawton too? We do most of our shopping at Walmart cuz it is close ;} there is a sam’s club in Lawton but it is on the other side of town, so we don’t really go there ;p sad day.
We have been studying Obedience in PMG as challenged by Pres. Butler, what have you been studying?  and what have you learned? I have been studying a lot about the basics in the church, to strengthen my knowledge. Then it will be easier to share and testify when I have a solid testimony of the basics… with the knowledge of the basics, everything else falls into place :}
How are you trying to be like Jesus this week? I am striving to be more charitable this week towards my comp, my leaders and the people we teach :} that is my goal hehe
What new things have you learned about yourself and your role as a missionary? I have learned that I am stronger that I thought I was. The Lord has stretched me, pushed me, and pulled me to make me a better… me :} I have learned to put my trust in the Lord because this is His work and He knows what can be done here. :}
In what way has the Lord blessed you this week or lately? He has blessed me with warm weather. It  has been in the high 60’s low 70’s for the past 3 days and will be that way for a few more ;} I love how the Lords just knows how much sis Garner and I can handle. The weather will be cold for like 3 days, and then Heavenly Father sends the warm weather and it is so nice ;}
How have you noticed the light of the gospel changing someone's life? I have ;] even if it’s a little at a time ;} one example is William Heverling. His family has been less active since like 2013, but because their 9 year old and 7 year old want to get baptized, they have been coming to church and you can just see the difference in all of there lives, not just William who is being taught by us. It is so awesome!! The Gospel is so True!
love you bunches;
Me

so on Thursday, sis garner and i got home from a long day working and come into the house to find an elders shirt hanging on our fan in our living room... on it were all the attributes that would make a perfect man haha ;} the Sisters in the 1st ward snuck into our house and gave this shirt to us ;} so silly haha
 then, the next day i wore it to District meeting and everyone thought it was so funny!
1-2 Puffy French Toast eating challenge... sis Garner ate 6 and 1/2 of these things!! yuck
3. Dakota's husband is a dirt road speed racer person and this was his car... so we took a pic of it hehe
4. the fruit roll ups you sent me.... tattooed on my tongue ;}

2-4-15

How was church? Church was really good. There were a lot of amazing testimonies that I needed to hear haha. Sis Garner and I also were asked to teach Gospel Principles right as we walked into the classroom door ;} so fun. Then we taught most of the lesson in RS cuz it was on missionary work and fellowshipping as members :} it was actually really good
How is biking?  is it drafty? colder that walking or warmer?  Biking is fun when the wind isn’t going against you. Yesterday we were biking to an appointment that usually takes us around 12-15 mins to bike to… well the wind was blowing against us so bad that it took us about 30 mins to get there. It felt like when you put two negative sides of a magnet together and they force each other to go separate ways, well that was us haha. It is colder than walking cuz you always have wind blowing at you, but it is faster so you can get to the appointment faster and warm up faster
Did you get the thermals?  If not they should be there anytime :) I have not received them yet, but I am looking forward to them :}
do you need warmer socks? I have a box full of fuzzy socks that I just layer on, so I think I am good with socks :} thanks though
Are you reading the book Jesus the Christ?   Bro schirmer uses it in our gospel doctrine class and I thought of you.  If yes do you have any favorite parts? I have, and I love it all! I love learning all about Christ. But I love reading about the atonement, and the insight it give me, things I never new before.
How often do you get to do interviews with pres. Walkenhorst? Every other transfer :} so we just had them, so in 2 transfers we will have them again! Wahoo!!
have you met any senior couples in your mission?  Some of them. We work with the Tomany’s so they are the only ones that I know right now
is Lawton a college town or just a base town? It’s a college town as well. Cameron University is here:}
what is your favorite song to sing while biking? Mostly Disney songs ;} we love Disney haha
What is your favorite thing about your companion? That she dances like a crazy person;] it is so fun!!!
what would she say is her favorite thing about you? We have fun. I make her happy. :}
when I say funny, what do you think of? Our elders. They are so weird but so funny all the time. Like for instance, elder Morris (right now) is singing “If you like’d it then you should have put a ring on it”… so funny
how will you spend your p-day?  Do you shop on bikes too? Luckily we don’t have to bike until tonight cuz our elders are really nice and drive us around all day :} hehe.  Our P-day will be spent as follows: we are gonna email til about 10:15 and then sis Garner and I are gonna study til 12:15 while our elders email. Then we will go shopping and eat food, then we will go bowling (cuz that’s the only sport the other sisters in our area want to do) which is fine, but I have never been good at bowling, and you all can confirm to that. Then we will get ready for the day, go to dinner, and then party hard as missionaries :} we have a few peeps to see tonight so hope those go well :}

1-26-15

1. a sign we saw :} so funny
2. another sign we saw riding our bikes. hahahahahah
3. Impact Center church sign
4. the text elder Burnham and Elder Bueno sent after we all went to the IMpact center
5. our area at the temple!
6. Sis. Garner and I at the temple!
7. the sisters in our area and whole zone!

Mama B;
How are things going with Jared and his daughter?  Has he quit smoking?   He had not quite smoking and he dropped us last Tuesday and then again this last Thursday. We pretty much have dropped all of our investigators and we are staring anew in this area. It is very stressful.
How is all the bike riding going?  Are the roads clear still and do you feel safe? It has actually been pretty warm here. The weather has been in the high 50’s for the past week so that is really nice :} but every one keeps saying that it’s gonna get colder soon haha. But the roads are clear :}
How do you schedule your appointments based on time to bike there?  Do you plan a route? We usually try to stay in one geographical area a day so we can see less-actives, find potential investigators and build relationships with members in those areas as well. So then we don’t use all of our energy biking all around town haha ;}
So the question is... how have the little things you have done, made a difference in your life? I guess when I focus on the little things, the basics, those help me to grow. I mean, you can play a Bach Piano piece without learning how to read music and practice the basic stuff. Church, Pray, Read: those are the things that I have been working on, the basics. Without those 3 things, you spirit cannot survive. CPR- church pray read :}
What have you learned in your studies this week?  I have been reading Jesus the Christ, along with the New Testament. (I am in Luke 9 right now). I have really been focusing on my Savior and really getting to know him more. I mean, how can you truly be friends with someone if you don’t really know them? He knows all about us, we should learn all we can about him. So I have been focusing on learning who my Elder Brother is, who the Son of God is, and who my Savior is :}
The best thing about your week with Sis Garner was....? So we did a church swap with one of our new investigators and her family, (that just means that we go to there church and then they come to ours) and the church was called the Impact Center. It was like a rock concert but with gospel music haha and we got shout outs during their prayers so that was nice of them :} OH and also they we teaching about Acts 2:1-5 about the spirit helping the apostles speak in tongues, and they focused on how the only way that the Holy Spirit is inside you is when you start speaking tongues. So after the lesson they asked everyone to come up and feel the Holy Spirit inside them and they started speaking in tongues… ish… it was more like weird babble. (ex: Shig a dig a dig a dig a dig a dig! Shala a has bash! Shig a dig a dig a dig a dig a dig!) so funny! Then when we were leaving, one of the pastors started to pray and said something along the lines of “please bless the visitors to feel the true spirit from the one true God” it was so awkward.
My favorite teaching moment was....? So we went to go and teach Alexus, our investigator who we did the church swap with, her parents were in the lesson and had all of these crazy questions. BUT lucky for us, the spirit prompted us to ask this member named sister Alder to come with us. So we didn’t know this but sis Alder was a less-active a few years ago and before getting married, asked her husband all of these crazy questions and has been researching stuff about the church ever since. She is so solid and was able to answer some of the obscene questions that Alexus’ parents could think of. It was really cool to learn all of this new stuff while our investigators were also learning new stuff :}
I laughed so hard when...... I got the text from Elder bueno after the Impact Center:  Shig a dig a dig a dig a dig a dig! Shala a has bash! Shig a dig a dig a dig a dig a dig! Elder Bueno has been saved!! Amen Halelujah!
What a great group of missionaries I serve with!

The church is true!
love Me

1-20-15

How was the Base yesterday?  Do you ever see these investigators any other time? Base was interesting, no one new came to my lesson so I re-taught the restoration to 2 soldiers who are getting baptized this week :} and no we don’t see these investigators other than Sunday, so the ward missionaries (soldiers who are called to be ward missionaries) do a lot of work during the week :}
do you get to see the other ward at all? (and how is Sis Malcom doing in her pregnancy?) I only miss about 40-45 mins of our ward so its not too bad. And she is doing ok. She was in the ER a few days ago but has been doing better. We went and Heart-Attacked her door so that was fun :}
How are you and your new comp getting along?  Have you taught each other new things to make you all better missionaries? She is awesome. We have been getting along really well and we teach really well together as well. She has taught me a lot about a positive attitude. I thought I was positive but she beats me in that category. She has also taught me how to keep our house organized and clean :}
What did you study and learn this week in personal study that sounded new to you? D&C 123:16-17. I read that and loved the analogy cuz I have a visual mind so that made sense to me. It is so good to recognize how much our Father in Heaven loves us and how much He wants to help us, we just have to ask Him. Our lives get carried away and the storms (or trials) of life take over. It is really hard to steer through life without the helm, or the gospel in our life. I just thought that was really cool.
When did you feel the spirit the strongest? Yesterday during what we call an STM (specialized Training Meeting)… see last question for more details :} hehe
What made you LOL? We went to go and visit a less-active (sis Prokos) the other day and she was sick so we went back to our bikes and then the mailman asked what we were selling. So we talked to him for a little bit and then our less-active’s neighbor Debora (who looks like the female version of Jack Sparrow) came out to talk to us and asked us to come over and talk with her for a little bit. So we went over and started talking to her and she pretty much confessed her entire life to us… awkwardness! When she was done talking, we tried to tie in some gospel topics but she said she wasn’t interested in being taught. So we said our goodbyes and walked away. And we were riding our bikes away; sis Garner and I just looked at each other and just busted up laughing haha.
Have you had any flat bike tires?  Do you know how to change one? I do know how to change one, our elders informed us how to. And luckily (knock on wood) neither of us have had a flat tire :}
Have you had any crazy food yet? Nope :} so glad too haha
When did you feel the most loved and can you feel our hugs and prayers from here? I can feel your hugs and prayers, which I am so grateful for ;} I am in much need of those hugs and prayers. I felt the most love yesterday at a Specialized Training Meeting that our Zone Leaders did. They talked about our Identity and our Destiny as children of God. It was a much needed training and an answer to many of my prayers. I know that my Father in Heaven loves each and everyone of us and knows us personally. I am so grateful for that knowledge :}
Love you all! keep up your hard work and the Lord will bless you for it :}
Love Sister Meagan

1-12-15

so with the new transfer there have been some changes into the schedule of emailing...

!st off, our area is a bike area now, so sis Garner and I don't have cars anymore ;{ So the Elders have to drive us around everywhere. so we are now doing emailing from 8 to 10:30(ish) and so you might be getting emails from me very early in the day...today was a very hard day to email so i wasn't able to answer every question, but i hope i answered the ones that you wanted. so sorry

So how has your week been? Its been a little on the rough side but we are still pushing forward. So this week we found out about Transfers and ‘who will stay and who will go’ :} so then all Monday and Tuesday we were visiting people and still trying to teach as well. Then on Tuesday, our phone, out of the blue, broke and we couldn’t see anything on the screen except for a tiny little section on the Left bottom side. It was chaotic! Then at lunch the Zone Leaders informed me that we would be a bike area starting Jan 7th… so we are a bike area now. Same area, just on bikes now. our car was taken and given to our District leader and his companion. We can drive with the elders when ever, no rules against that. but they usually only drive us to dinner, back home, and then to church and back. but on p-days, they are driving us everywhere!!! it will be an adjustment to make but i think it will be fun;]
My week has slowly gotten better and I am so grateful for the enabling Power of the Atonement.
what are the roads like? is it safe for biking... I know nerdy mom questions haha bear with me please.  I just want to know  that you are safe and alright. the roads are pretty clear, there are a few spots where there is ice, but we just avoid those haha :}
Did you drive into OKC to take Sis D there and pick up your new companion? We rode up with the Zone Leaders and dropped her off. I saw sister Stewart who chopped her hair so it is a really cute bob, and Sister Moore as well :}
Are you OK? I am doing a lot better now, it was just the initial 50 changes all happening at once that just stressed me out and overwhelmed.
What is you new comp like or is it too soon to tell? My new comp, Sister Kaitland Garner, is awesome!!! She has such a positive attitude and has been helping me through all of the changes that have been happening this last week. She is from Bountiful Utah and whet to BYU for a year. She has been out for 6 months. So I am senior companion, which really doesn't mean anything other than I can drive our car… if we had one haha
Doc wanted to know if Bueno is still in your area? He is indeed, I am actually gonna see him today at pday :}
Are you warm enough?  I am trying to stay as warm as possible. We wear like 7 layers of clothes when we head outside haha :}
How was this Sunday? it was the on base experience right?  I want a few details on how it is different and how it is the same and are you just attending the branch there or are there investigators too? So the 4 missionaries that go on base teach the missionary discussions, so there are only 3 lessons though. So yesterday, sister Law taught the 1st lesson (the restoration), elder Morris taught the 2nd Lesson (Plan of Salvation and Doctrine of Christ) and Elder Burnham taught the 3rd Lesson (Commandments, and laws and ordinances). I was what we call a Floater, so I move around to whatever lesson might need me :} so I was with sister Law yesterday. It was a totally different experience. There is a different spirit on Post that can't really be explained. The members of the church who are in basic training or in AIT (not sure what it stands for) come to our branch and bring their friends with them, so we constantly have new investigators at church. It is just so cool!!
What is your favorite food that members feed you? CafĂ© Rio burritos ;}
Did you feel the Lord watching over you this week? Absolutely. We have had some crazy experiences on our bikes (not too dangerous :}) but I know the Lord was watching over us.
Love you so much!!!

MEAGAN 2014 YEAR IN REVIEW 1/5/2015

2014 Year in Review:
What was my best idea? To go on a mission :}
What  was my best memory (details)?
I like to spend my time? Teaching people the gospel :} and listening to uplifting, awesome music
My favorite animal is and why? A little bird named Tweedy, he lives outside our house on our porch and he protects us when the elders come over ;} he likes to scare the elders haha
My favorite color is and why? Definitely green ;} cuz it is awesome!
My favorite food is and what makes it my favorite? Favorite food would have to be a Braums burger, because they are juicy and delicious for a cheap price :}
My favorite song is and why? My favorite song right now is “turn your eyes on Jesus” or “God’s not Dead” because they speak to my soul when I need it the most
I am proud of? I am proud of my decision to come on a mission and for my decision to stay.
My friends are? Too many to count, but of course my family (immediate and extened) my Friends back home :} (you know who you are hehe), Most of the Elders and Sisters I have Served with out on my mission, and of course My Savior, Jesus Christ. He has become my best friend out here on the mission.
Next year I want to learn to? To learn more about my purpose as a missionary and how to become a better missionary,
go see? A Football/Basketball game, the Hobbit, Into the Woods, Big Hero 6, Avengers 2, my family and friends :}
be better at? Sitting still :} working out, share my testimony more, and be a better friend and sister ;}
How was your week?  Who came to church? Jared came to church this week with his daughter Erica :} so cute. We taught him the Word of Wisdom this week (cuz he smokes like a lumber-jack) and he said that he would try but it might take him a while haha
This week has actually been a very hard week for sister Duersch and I. we went on a spiritual purge  (means the missionaries don't contact the investigators, the investigators have to contact them if they are interested in progressing) with Fashionette and Kyla this week and got a text from Kyla saying that she still wanted to be baptized this weekend. So we went over and taught her and got the baptismal program all set. We had a baptismal interview set up for her on Friday at 4 pm and we texted her and made sure she was coming and she said she would be there. So 4 o’clock rolls around and she didn't show up. So sister Duersch called her phone as well as Roberts phone, Robert answers and says that she isn't home, but we could hear her kids in the background. So we drove over to see if she was home and her car was there and the boys were there, but she was not. Robert then got all mad at us cuz we didn’t believe him and told us to go away. So sis duersch and I went back to the church to talk with elder Morris and elder Burnham about what to do, we then get a text from a member who was trying to get a hold of Kyla saying that Robert said that kyla was out of town for a funeral of a family member so she would not be getting baptized this weekend. Then later calls us and says that kyla told him to tell us that she doesn't like being pressured into being baptized so she wants to wait a while. So we won’t be teaching her until she calls us, which might not even happen. We have been through “H.E. double hockey” sticks this weekend. Thought I would share what missionary work also includes. I never really knew how much emotion you invest in your investigator and how hard it hurts when they push the Gospel of Jesus Christ away, especially when you know they know how happy they can be with the knowledge. It is really hard. But on a happier note, Fashionette texted us and wants us to come back and teach her and answer her questions again, so that is good.
are either of you being transferred? I am staying but sis Duersch is getting transferred way up north to Woodward. My new comp will be Sister Garner
How do you use D&C 4 in your life? I try to make sure that I am doing the best I can to harvest those who have been prepared by the Lord so that I can help in hastening the work.
In what way did you feel the spirit the strongest? At church this week, we are learning about the basics now in Gospel Principles and we learned about our Father in Heaven and how we are his literal spirit sons and daughters. He wants the best for us and wants to help us so bad, but He wants us to learn so we must struggle a little bit, but when it gets too hard for us to handle or we have given all we have, we can ask Him to intervene and He will help us along. I am so glad for that knowledge and for the Spirit testifying to me of that Truth.
There is a scripture that I found during studies this week, it is 2 Nephi 25:23 and it reads For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, andalso our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know thatit is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do. I love the last part the most, after all we can do. That has really stuck out to me, especially this week with the trials that sister Duersch and I are in right now, I know that after I have given my all, the Lord will help me and will pick me up and carry me across the finish line.
Do you go to just one ward? or to more?  what time does it meet?  are you comps with an elder yet  on Sundays or still with sis D?I am now comps with sister law from 8 am to 12:15ish and then I will be companions with Sister Garner after that. I will be going on post now :} so it’s a little different now :}
So what are your goals for the year? My goals are to read the BofM every day, to find joy everyday, and to keep focused on who I am and why I am here :}
